In a prompt response to a distress call, the FCT Police Command on Saturday foiled an attempted robbery attack on the Mpape branch of a first-generation bank on Saturday at about 12noon.
Police Operatives were said to have been promptly deployed to the scene and engaged in crossfire with the robbers thereby foiling the attack on the bank with back up from the Military.
It was learned that in the process, one of the suspected armed robbers was shot dead in an attempt to escape but four others arrested.
A statement by Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, ASP Yusuf Mariam on Saturday said the Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.
According to the statement, “the Command urges residents to remain calm as normalcy has been restored while reaffirming its commitment to nip crime in the bud and ensure safety in the FCT.
