No fewer than 74 political parties have been deregistered, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced on Thursday.
The chairman of INEC, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Abuja.
He also announced dates for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states holding later in the year.
According to him, the Edo election will hold on September 19, 2020, while that of Ondo will hold on October 10, 2020.
With the de-registration exercise over, only 18 political parties will participate in future elections.
