The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has set up a peace initiative committee to look into disputes and other issues affecting its members.
The ANLCA President, Mr Tony Nwabunike, made the disclosure during a visit to him by some members of the Murtala Muhammed Airport unit of the association, on Tuesday in Lagos.
He noted that the dispute had delayed conclusion of election of executive committee members of the unit.
Nwabunike said that the peace initiative committee would meet aggrieved parties with a view to ensuring reconciliation.
“The uniqueness of our association is that we want to be democratic in doing things.
“You must have run out of patience; the election which is meant to take 90 days to hold is taking more than one year now, and that is not right.
“The national executive council is holding meetings on this issue, and I want to assure you that in no distant time, the white paper will be out.
“We want to reconcile and have an indivisible family again; so, I implore you all to exercise more patience,” he said.
Earlier, the spokesman for the unit, Mr Ben Nwokocha, expressed dissatisfaction at the delay in concluding the election.
He urged Nwabunike to use his good offices to expedite actions in the election.
“We are aware of the challenges faced by your government, but we are here to identify with you and encourage you to remain steadfast and focused.
“We will be happy if a date is fixed before the end of this month for the conclusion of the election,” he said. (NAN)
