The Nasarawa State government has ordered the immediate shut down of the state House of Assembly and quarantine of all the lawmakers, following the death of one of them, Sulieman Adamu, who passed away in the early hours of Friday, as a result of COVID-19 virus.
Speaking to journalists at the presidential Lodge in Lafia on Sunday, Governor Abdullahi Sule ordered the immediate fumigation of the entire assembly building.
All the members and staff of the Nasarawa state house of Assembly have been mandated to go on self-quarantine as their samples have been taken for testing. They are to remain isolated, pending when their results will be back.
According to Sule, “because of the association and contacts, we have decided that we are going to shut down the house of the assembly until we trace all his contacts”.
Suleiman Adamu, Member representing Nasarawa Central, who was sick over a very short period of time was on admission at the Federal Medical Center Keffi. His blood sample was taken for testing on Thursday. Unfortunately, he died in the early hours of Friday and was buried the same day.
The result of the tests carried out on him came back positive on Sunday, two days after his demise.
The governor revealed that there are 9 positive cases of CIVID-19 in the state. “From the result, I am just giving you, you will notice that Nasarawa state has nine positive cases but one death of COVID-19”.
Sule has called on the people not to panic as “the Family of the deceased lawmaker and those who participated in the burial rites are currently on quarantine. All contacts of the late lawmaker will be traced, quarantined and tested”, he assured
