Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on voters in Saturday’s bye-elections across nine states to reject the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of making insecurity and impoverishment a policy in affected polling units. Atiku, the former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), urged electorates in Ebonyi, Yobe, Borno, Kaduna, Benue, Ondo, Taraba, Lagos, and Kebbi to cast their votes for the PDP.
Atiku emphasized that voters’ decisions will play a crucial role in determining the country’s readiness for economic and national recovery. He specifically appealed to voters in Ebonyi South Senatorial District to support Barrister Silas Onu, the PDP candidate, highlighting Onu’s multiple skills and youth vibrancy.
Expressing his hope for a peaceful election, Atiku also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to redeem itself from the issues of fraudulent and shambolic elections in 2023. He called on members of the PDP and other political parties participating in the elections to adhere to laid-down regulations for a peaceful process.
In his statement, Atiku concluded, “Our country stands at the cusp of a new beginning, and the decisions that voters in the elections on Saturday shall make will determine how ready we are, as a people, to provoke the march to economic and national recovery.”
