The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, commiserated with the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, over the death of his mother, Florence Morenike Saraki. Naija News recalls that the mother of the ex-senate president died on the 18th of June, 2024, at the age of 89.

Saraki confirmed the demise of his mother in a statement via his X handle, noting that details of the funeral will be shared in due course.

In a statement released at the time he wrote, “With profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty God, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, who peacefully transitioned today, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

“Details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we mourn Mama’s passing.”

Wike, who spoke when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of the former Senate President in Abuja on Friday, said, “As a believer of God, we all know that there will be a day that we will all leave. She has come, she has played her role, she has left and I know she will be with the Almighty God.

“Our prayer is that God should fortify you and your siblings and the entire family, give you that courage to live and go ahead with doing things.”

Accompanying the minister during the visit were former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Prince Chibudum Nwuche, and Senator Philip Aduda, amongst others.
