Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has blamed the federal government for the death of the Emir of Gobir, in Sokoto State, Isa Bawa and many other victims of bandits. Atiku Abubakar said the death of the Sarkin Gobir, was a great loss to the Gatawa District, in Sabon Birni local government and the nation.

The late Alhaji Isa Bawa was killed by bandits on Wednesday, just a day after he had made appeal to the government to secure his release from the bandits. The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in his condolence message, stated that,

“the heinous act of violence perpetrated by bandits resulting in the untimely demise of such a revered leader is a stark reminder of the pressing need for enhanced security measures in safeguarding the lives and property of citizens. “The failure of government to show concern or devise effective security strategies has undoubtedly contributed to the escalation of such distressing events in recent times.”

Atiku prayed for the happy repose of the late Emir of Gobir. He, however, tasked the government to provide security to citizens.

“It is important to reiterate that government must provide security that will ensure the protection of lives, such that individuals do not have to live in fear of falling victims to senseless acts of violence. May the Almighty Allah accept the soul of Alhaji Isa Bawa and grant his bereaved family and people the fortitude to bear his loss. Amin,” he prayed.
