The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jigawa says it has taken delivery of all sensitive and necessary materials for Saturday’s bye-election for Babura/Garki Federal Constituency in the state. Dr Mahmoud Isa, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, made the disclosure to newsmen shortly after dispatching the materials from the INEC office in Dutse to Garki and Babura Local Government Areas on Thursday. The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) says it has begun the creation of child-friendly communities in two Local Government Areas of Gombe state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the LGAs identified for the programme include Balanga in Gombe South and Dukku in Gombe North, with three communities in each of the areas. The Lagos State Government says it will close the PWD Level Crossing in Ikeja between Sunday and Tuesday to facilitate completion of ongoing construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail line. The Public Affairs Unit of the State Ministry of Transportation said in a statement on Thursday that the level crossing would be closed between 6:00p.m. and 6:00a.m. each day. The Federal Government says it is currently constructing and rehabilitating 43 intervention roads in tertiary institutions across the country to further improve infrastructural development in institutions of learning. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Office, says it has arrested 48 suspected internet fraudsters in Abeokuta, the Ogun capital. Mr Tony Orilade, the Acting Head of Media and Publicity of the commission in the zone, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.
