Prof. Suleiman Ambali of the Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Ilorin, has warned that continuous exposure of humans to pesticides can cause low sperm count in men. Ambali disclosed this on Thursday night in his paper presentation at the 192nd Inaugural Lecture of the University (UNILORIN), entitled: “Preventing pesticides from poisoning away our health and future – the oxidative approach”. ABUJA – In continuation of its intervention in the inter-bank foreign exchange market, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday, February 7, 2020, injected the sum of $218.41million into the Retail Secondary Market Intervention Sales (SMIS) and CNY 18million in the spot and short-tenor forwards segment of the inter-bank foreign exchange market. One person has been confirmed dead in an attempt to kidnap Dr. Mike Dio-Jen, the Provost of Taraba College of Education Zing, at his residence in Jalingo. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, at the Green Beach area of Kona ward, in Jalingo. An account manager, Chijioke Ndubuisi, who allegedly stole N13 million belonging to his employer, on Friday appeared in Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja. Lagos. The police charged Ndusuisi, 29, who resides in Oworoshoki, Lagos, is charged with conspiracy and theft. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecution counsel, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Dec. 15, 2018 and August 2019 at Jumia Nigeria International Limited, located at Adeniji Jones , Ikeja . The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Thursday said that it recovered N77.04 billion worth of stolen assets in 2019. Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, spokesperson for the commission disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the activities and achievements of the commission in the year under review. Okoduwa said that the total recovery, both in cash and fixed assets, was made through operations, interim and final forfeitures.
