The Lagos State Government says plans are on to register religious houses, to ensure sanity in the state. The Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, Mrs Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, made this known on Tuesday in Alausa, Ikeja, during a Stakeholders Meeting with the Nigeria Inter-religious Council (NIREC). Akinbile-Yussuf said that the registration, which was supposed to kick-start by mid-2020, would help to fish out worship centres that were being used to perpetrate evil in the state. The Pan-Yoruba Socio-Political Organisation, Afenifere, on Tuesday warned against any situation that could foist anarchy on Oyo State in respect of the ruling of the Court of Appeal on the Governorship election in Oyo State. President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has said that both chambers of the National Assembly may pass the 2020 budget by next week Wednesday. The Nigerian Air Force has expressed its readiness to partner the Cross River garment factory in the production of uniforms, flying and technicians suits and other materials. The management of Delta Polytechnic, Ozoro, has banned the use of face caps by students on campus. The rector of the polytechnic, Prof. Job Akpodiete, gave this order at the weekend shortly after the burning of more than 5,000 face caps seized from students. A Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja on Tuesday sentenced 20-year-old Stanley Sunday and his girlfriend, Onyinyechi Ikechukwu to 20 days imprisonment for selling their two-month-old son for N300, 000. The convicts, who are residents of Idu, Karmo, Abuja, who were arraigned on a count charge of selling of minor for an unlawful purpose. The Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed Feb. 25 to deliver judgment in the N400 million fraud charge against former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Olisa Metuh. Justice Okon Abang fixed the date on Tuesday after listening to the final written addresses by counsel in the matter. A Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, further adjourned the trial until Dec. 2, of a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenandi Usman, and others, over N4.6 billion Money laundering charges. Usman is standing trial alongside a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Yusuf Danjuma, a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and a Company, Jointrust Dimension Ltd. The defendants were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on 17-counts. They had each pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail respectively.
