Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in Anambra State has distributed free laptops to 2000 Head Teachers and Principals of public and public-mission schools. The distribution ceremony, symbolizing the state’s commitment to its “technology everywhere, everything technology” mantra, was presided over by Governor Soludo at the International Convention Centre, Awka.
Governor Soludo reiterated his administration’s dedication to revolutionizing Anambra’s public education system, emphasizing the vision of transforming public schools into smart institutions. Encouraging head teachers to embrace technology, he announced plans for structured training programs to ensure educators remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
Highlighting the impact of free education initiatives, Governor Soludo revealed a significant increase in enrollment rates in Anambra’s public schools, with enrollment rising by approximately 20 percent. He pledged to further enhance the quality of education by prioritizing teacher training and leveraging partnerships with the private sector and communities.
The distribution of laptops aligns with the six comprehensive pillars of education outlined by the administration, as stated by the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. Describing the event as epoch-making, Professor Chuma-Udeh emphasized the administration’s commitment to elevating the education sector.
Echoing sentiments of gratitude, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, Chairperson of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, commended Governor Soludo’s compassion towards educators and students. She announced plans to equip laboratories in all schools, further enhancing the learning environment.
Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, Chairperson of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the governor’s promise of providing government laptops and facilitating Wi-Fi access in schools.
