Digital financial services platform, Opay, is reinforcing the security of users’ funds with the introduction of a new custom short code, as confirmed in an official statement by Opay’s Managing Director, Mr. Dauda Gotring.
The newly implemented feature offers users a convenient method to swiftly lock their accounts in the event of a lost or stolen phone or card. Users can activate this security measure by dialing #955*131# to lock their accounts and #955*132# to instantly secure their cards.
Explaining the significance of the enhancement, Gotring stated, “Adding another layer of protection, OPay’s advanced fraud detection system actively monitors for suspicious activity. If a potential scam is identified, the system triggers an immediate double-confirmation alert before any transaction occurs.”
Opay, in its commitment to securing users’ deposits, benefits from the protection of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), ensuring the same level of insurance coverage as traditional banks.
