The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) says the outlook for global economy appeared bleak, going by the effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has ordered the immediate renovation of blocks of classrooms and supply of furniture to St John Secondary School, Ode-Aje, Aremo, Ibadan and other worst-hit schools in the metropolis. Dr Lanre Olosunde, the Chairman of Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) Chapter has called on the Federal Government to ban travel to or from the epicenters of coronavirus. Anambra Government is to establish mobile courts to try defaulters of street trading, construction of unapproved street stalls and littering of the environment in the state. The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has approved the establishment of the Directorate of Defence Media Operations (DDMO) for coordinating joint information management on peacekeeping and other combat operations of the Nigerian troops. The Directorate is tasked with the sole responsibility of disseminating information on the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies during special operations. An afternoon fire on Tuesday razed offices at Gusau Local Government Secretariat in Zamfara, but officials said no injuries were reported. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it took the combined efforts of the local council workers and the state fire service to bring the fire under control. Mr Samson Olatunde, the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Iworo, Badagry, Lagos State, on Tuesday presented the 2020 budget estimate of N2.1 billion to the council’s legislative arm. Presenting the budget proposal to the legislators, Olatunde said that the budget would be revenue-based with aggressive revenue generation. Some financial economists on Tuesday commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for coming up with some policy measures to ameliorate the effects of coronavirus pandemic on the country’s economy.
