The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State has condemned the attack by gunmen on its Chairmanship candidate for the Akure South Local Government election, Mr Gbenga Fasua. The state Chairman of SDP, Chief Korede Duyile, expressed concern over the attack in a statement issued in Akure on Monday by Mr Dele Ogunbameru, the Chairman of SDP Reconciliation and Development Committee in the state. Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday expressed sadness on the death of two of his aides, Chief Friday Akpoyibo and Chief Godspower Muemuifo. Akpoyibo died on Sunday, March 8 while Muemuifo’s death occurred on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 and until their demise, both were Senior Special Assistants to the Governor on Political Matters. The Gumel Emirate Council Zakat Committee in Jigawa has distributed 792 bags of grains to 510 less privileged persons as a charity. Zakat is a form of charity or alms-giving which is one of the five pillars of Islam. Speaking at the occasion on Monday, in Gumel Kudu, Alhaji Sani Maiturare, the Committee’s Chairman, said the grains, including sorghum and guinea corn, were distributed based on the need of the beneficiaries. The Plateau Government will resume its monthly sanitation in May, according to the Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Yakubu Usman. The Lagos House of Assembly on Monday passed a resolution sacking two of its principal officers and suspending two members indefinitely for gross misconduct, insubordination, and action that could destabilize the House. The Speaker of the House, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, announced the punitive measures following voice votes by the members present during the plenary session.
