The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Monday received the draft copy of the proposed bill for the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Amotekun in the state. The Nigerian Army on Monday engaged about 300 social media bloggers and online journalists in Sokoto toward enhancing proper understanding and fostering civic relationships in the fight against insecurity. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to de-register more political parties to sanitize Nigeria’s electoral system. Mr Nwachukwu Eze, the Chairman of Ebonyi Chapter of APC made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abakaliki. The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) says it has sealed 13 steel factories across the nation for standards infractions. Mr Enebi Onucheyo, Chairman, SON Task Force on Steel told newsmen on Monday in Lagos. According to Onucheyo, the factories located in Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Abia, and Edo states will remain shut till further notice. He said that the companies were shut following nationwide market surveillance carried out by the organization’s task force between November 2019 and January 2020. Panic as giant hyena escapes from Imo zoo
There was serious panic in Nekede, near Owerri, on Monday morning, following the reported escape of a male hyena from the Imo Zoological Garden and Wildlife Park. The General Manager of the park, Mr Francis Abioye, confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri. Abioye said that the animal was caught by wildlife experts in the zoo, six hours after its escape.
