The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has empowered 11,000 Nigerians across the country with various skills and trades under its 2019 National Industrial Skills Development Programme (NISDP). Mr Joseph Ari, ITF Director-General made this known on Monday in Abuja at the graduation and distribution of Start-Up Packs to the beneficiaries. A member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Board of Trustees, Abubakar Tsav, said the board was not aware of the statement issued by some of the forum members on President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. The Oyo State Government, on Monday, ordered the immediate suspension of 13 primary school Head Teachers, two Assistant Head Teachers and a classroom Teacher for extortion and various misconducts. The Government issued the directive through the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, following an inspection tour of some schools in the Ibadan metropolis. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday condoled with River Gov. Nyesom Wike over the death of his uncle, Chief Charles Wike. NIMET donates weather equipment to UNILORIN
The Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has donated equipment for weather data collection to the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of Ilorin. According to the University of Ilorin Bulletin issued on Monday, the donation of the equipment, which had been installed, was a fallout of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the University signed with NIMET in 2017. The Senate Committee on Works has decried the slow pace of work by the contractor handling the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway. Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Adamu Aliero made this known on Monday when he led members of the Committee on oversight to the sites. Mohammed Adoke, former Attorney General of the Federal (AGF) and Minister of Justice were, on Monday, te-arraigned by the EFCC in the Federal High Court, Abuja, on fresh charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of N900 million. The EFCC is prosecuting Adoke and one Aliyu Abubakar on a 7-count charge before Justice Binta Nyako. The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Monday increased its Lagos-Ogun Mass Transit Train Services (MTTS) to two trains daily to reduce the sufferings usually experienced by its commuters. The NRC’s District Manager, Lagos, Mr Jerry Oche, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that it was also to reduce the inadequacy the single train being operated had been creating. Unknown gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers on Friday night, stormed the residence of a former Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha, and abducted four persons. The suspected kidnappers also shot and injured an ABU hunter, during their illicit operation.
