Again, petrol tanker explodes in Onitsha
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra Command, on Friday said no casualty was recorded in the tanker that burnt at Upper Iweka in Onitsha. This was announced at the FAAC meeting chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Alhaji Mahmoud Isa-Dutse on Thursday in Abuja. The N716.298 billion comprised revenue from Value Added Tax (VAT), Exchange Gain and the Statutory Revenue. Following the discovery of an alleged illegal private orphanage, Du Merci Children Development Ministry, Kano State Police Command says it rescued 19 children from its possession. The State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abdullahi Haruna, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Kano on Thursday. Haruna noted that a suspect and his wife, now at large, connived and sourced for the children through unlawful means. A prosecution witness in a defilement case against a cleric, Abdulsalam Salaudeen, on Thursday narrated how he allegedly caught the defendant in the act with a hidden camera. Mr Ebenezer Omejalile, a social worker and child protection consultant, testified before an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court. He was led in evidence by Mr Akin George, the lead state prosecutor. Gov Sanwo-Olu reshuffles cabinet
Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday announced a cabinet reshuffle, with the appointment of three new members. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, indicated that eight cabinet portfolios were affected by the redeployment. They include ministries of Local Government, Special Duties, Wealth Creation and Employment, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Home Affairs, Waterfront Infrastructure, Central Business District and Urban Development. No fewer than nine persons were on Thursday burnt to death in a lone accident involving a Toyota Hiace bus at Ijebu-Ife on the Sagamu – Benin Expressway. Mr Clement Oladele, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta. Oladele said that the accident, which happened a 3.20 p.m., involved 19 people. He said that the ill-fated bus was conveying 17 adults and two children before the incident.
