The Bayelsa House of Assembly, on Monday, passed the Legislative Fund Management Bill, 2019, which signals financial autonomy for the Assembly. The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) says President Muhammadu Buhari’s 29.9 billion dollars external borrowing request to National Assembly for approval was in the interest of the country. In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju in Abuja on Sunday, BMO said the funds were necessary in order for the country to bridge the infrastructure gaps that were left unattended to by previous administrations in the country. Fire on Sunday destroyed 15 shops and damaged other property at the Owode-Oniri Market in Lagos State. The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the scene that the fire started at 10: 27a.m. NAN reports that a LASEMA team was on hand to put out the fire.
