Oil prices were mixed on Friday in quiet trade, with the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday limiting activity, while investors awaited a meeting of OPEC and its allies next week that may result in extension of an output cut agreement to support the market. Brent crude futures LCOc1 were down eight cents, or 0.1 per cent, at 63.79 dollars a barrel by 0740 GMT. The Federal Government has commenced implementation of the 750 million dollars World Bank-funded State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme in 33 states. The Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine said the programme was aimed at transforming the public finance management system in states. Ayine said that SFTAS was initiated by the Federal Government, adding that the OAuGF would be the Independent Verification Agents (IVA) for the programme. The Edo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that 143 persons were killed in road safety crashes in the state due to absent-mindedness of drivers. Mr Anthony Oko, State sector commander of the corps revealed this on Thursday in Benin, at the flag-off of the 2019 Ember month campaign by the corps. Oko said that the figure which represents 37 per cent was between January and October. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) on Thursday closed its case in the ongoing trial of former Chief of AVM Umar Dikko in the Federal High Court Abuja over alleged N9.7 billion fraud. EFCC charged is Dikko with seven counts of laundering and procurement fraud to the tune of N9.7 bn. The anti-graft agency alleged that the amount accrued when Dikko allegedly converted money from the N1.2 billion monthly from allocations belonging to the Nigerian Air Force to his personal use.
