LAGOS –   A week-long Mentorship and Coaching Skill Development Training Workshop for medical laboratory professionals has ended in Lagos, Nigeria. The training workshop funded by German Cooperation, KFW, was jointly organized by the African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) and the West African Health Organization, WAHO. No fewer than five persons were confirmed dead and 12 reported cases on Friday due to cholera at Lafenwa, Abeokuta North local council of Ogun. The Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Health, Dr Adesanya Ayinde, said at a news conference in Abeokuta that one person died in the hospital and four in the affected communities. He listed the communities to include Kuto, Kobiti, Abule-Otun, Lafenwa, all in Abeokuta. Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has revoked all farmland titles and allocations that were made along with cattle grazing reserves in the state from 1999 to date. Gunmen have attacked some Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials traveling from Abuja to Lagos at Oshawa along the Lokoja-Okene highway at about 1:50 pm on Friday. The Federal Government has commenced implementation of the 750 million dollars World Bank-funded State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme in 33 states. The Auditor-General for the Federation, Mr Anthony Ayine said the programme was aimed at transforming the public finance management system in states. Ayine said that SFTAS was initiated by the Federal Government, adding that the OAuGF would be the Independent Verification Agents (IVA) for the programme.
