The Ogun police command says it has arrested a 42-year-old woman, Temitope Akinola, for allegedly poisoning and killing her two-day-old granddaughter with a deadly insecticide, Sniper. The suspect, a resident of Isote area of Sagamu town, Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, was arrested on Nov. 21 by operatives of the command. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said the grandmother was arrested, following the information received by the police in Sagamu division that the baby left in care of the suspect by her mother had been found dead. NIS to commence e-registration of immigrants
Mr David Ringshum, the Comptroller, Imo Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), has advised irregular migrants to register during the oncoming Migrant e-Registration scheduled to start in the state on Nov. 26. Ringshum gave the advice when the staff of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Owerri Office paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Owerri. Tukur Buratai, says the super camp concept adopted to tackle activities of insurgents and other criminal activities in the country has yielded the desired results. NAN reporter, others lose property in fire
Mr Abdul-Saheed Olaide , a reporter with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and some of his neighbours lost their property in a fire that razed their residence in Gwalameji, a suburb of Bauchi, on Sunday afternoon. The other victims are David Adenuga , a reporter with The Nation Newspapers, and some students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi. The victims said the source of the fire, which reportedly started at 1.30 p.m. from a bush behind the building was not known but that it destroyed nine rooms. An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday ordered the remand of a teenager, Biodun Ademoye, who admitted assaulting a policeman on duty. Magistrate B. O. Osunsanmi ordered that Ademoye , 18, should be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility, Lagos, along with Abiodun Omotosho, 27, charged along with Ademoye. Omotosho also pleaded guilty to the four-count charge. Osunsanmi adjourned the case until Nov. 29 for review of the facts and sentencing. The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, admitted Abdulrasheed Maina, former Chairman, defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTM), to bail in the sum of N1 billion. Justice Okon Abang, who gave the ruling, also ordered that Maina must produce two sureties who must be serving senators. The two lawmakers, according to the judge, must not be standing any criminal trial in any court in the country.
