It was jubilation galore in Yenagoa as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Mr David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the governorship election in Bayelsa. The state has been under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, since the country returned to democracy in 1999. Prof. Faraday Orumwense, Vice Chancellor, University of Benin and INEC’s Returning Officer, who anounced the result, said APC polled 352,552 votes to win in the election. Gov. Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of the governorship election held in Kogi State on Nov. 16. The Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, who announed the results in Lokoja on Monday said that Bello polled 406,222 votes to beat 24 other contestants, including Mr Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 189,704 votes. National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has sealed 22 bakeries and 25 “sachet water” factories during routine inspection in Maiduguri. The agency’s Coordinator in Borno, Nasiru Mato, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after a raid in Maiduguri on Sunday. Mato said some of the shut factories did not meet the minimum requirements to operate, while others were not registered with the agency. The Nigerian Army troops deployed at Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno has subdued Boko Haram terrorists and rescued an Octogenarian, three women and four children held captives by the insurgents. The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
