The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has appealed to Nigerian youths, particularly students, to distance themselves from criminal tendencies capable of disrupting their future endeavors. Mr. Isyaku Sharu, Head of the EFCC Zonal Office in Ilorin made the appeal on Tuesday while addressing students at the University of Ilorin. Sharu said the call had become necessary following the increasing pervasiveness of cybercrimes, otherwise called “Yahoo-Yahoo”, among the youth. The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has deployed the Migration Information Data Analysis System (MIDAS) to five international airports in the country to boost security. The government of Oyo State is set to deploy the 100 Kia Rio automatic transmission cars procured for use of security agencies in the state. The state has also approved the sum of N178.7 million for the procurement of Radio Communication equipment for the security agencies in the state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had accused bankers of defrauding Nigerians through western union. Some of the bankers, who spoke with NAN in Abuja on Monday on condition of anonymity, said they were yet to receive such complaints from their customers. The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, disqualified the Deputy Governorship Candidate, All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo in Bayelsa State, over false information given in his CF0001 Form submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Nov. 16 election.
