The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned two men in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly snatching a Naval officer’s handbag. The police charged Abdullahi Gambo,30, and Abubakar Adamu,34, with one count of theft. The prosecutor, Insp. Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Oct. 26 at about 10 p.m. along the Iyana-Iba Road in Ojo. The police on Tuesday arraigned an applicant, Abdullahi Useni, in a Grade I Area Court, Mpape, Abuja for allegedly obstructing law enforcement officer from discharging his duties. The police charged Useni with obstructing a public servant and failing to assist an officer of the law in carrying out lawful duty. The police on Tuesday arraigned a businesswoman, Lovina Chukwuekezi, 34, in a Magistrates’ Court in Ojo, Lagos for allegedly biting off her apprentice’s cheek. The police charged Chuwuekezi along with her husband, Patrick, 51, with five counts of conspiracy, provocation, causing bodily harm, assault, and neglect. The Prosecutor, Insp. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yobe, said it had arrested a policeman and a drug trafficker (names withheld) for allegedly conniving and supplying 59kg of prohibited Tramadol tablets to Boko Haram insurgents in Gwoza, Borno. Mr Reuben Apeh, the NDLEA state Commander, while addressing newsmen in Damaturu, said that the suspects were arrested on Nov. 7. The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld its earlier judgment, ordering the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to pay $22.6 million(N8.1billion) in damages to BCE Consulting Engineers over a failed Consultancy Service Contract. The NNPC through its counsel approached the Supreme Court seeking a review of the July 5, 2019 judgment over an alleged error of facts. Judicial Review is a procedure provided under the Supreme Court Civil Procedure Rules for review of extant judgments.
