NiMet predicts dry weather for Thursday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted a stable atmosphere with dry conditions over the Northern region and some parts of central states on Thursday. NiMet’s weather outlook on Wednesday in Abuja, however, forecast prospects of thunderstorms over the central and southern regions within the forecast period. The agency predicted sunny condition over Northern states throughout the forecast period. NiMet also predicted day and night temperatures of the region to be 35 to 37 degrees Celsius and 24 to 25 degree Celsius respectively. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, on Thursday presented the state’s 2020 budget of N197.68 billion to the House of Assembly for approval. Ganduje said the ‘Budget of Sustainable Social Development’ will focus on infrastructure development. According to him, over N117.71 billion of the budget was for capital projects while N79.972 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditures. He said the 2020 budget was however lower than that of 2019 which was N219 billion, by nine and 16 percent for recurrent and capital expenditures respectively. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti has hailed Wednesday’s Appeal Court judgment which upheld the Tribunal verdict that sacked Sen. Dayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in favour of Mrs Abiodun Olujimi. The Senate on Wednesday debated two critical bills – the sexual harassment bill and President Muhammadu Buhari’s Finance bill, 2019. The bills, which scaled second reading on the floor of the Senate, were sponsored by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya, respectively. Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai has appointed two more women as Special Advisers, according to a statement by his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye. The new Special Advisers are among the 17 aides appointed by the governor on Tuesday.
