The police on Wednesday arraigned a driver, Yakubu Zakari, in an Upper Area Court in Zuba, FCT, for alleged hit-and-run. The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that on Oct. 15, Zakari, who lives in Dutsen Alhaji , a suburb of the FCT, dangerously drove a Toyota Hilux with registration number RBC 939 XA, property of Julius Berger PLC with fleet number B4666 on the Madalla-Zuba expressway. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Nigeria’s Border Community Development Agency, BCDA, says it targets 40% improvement in rural human capacity building in a five-year roadmap it has developed for the country. The abridged framework of the roadmap, which was presented to the board of the agency at a meeting on Monday, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, plans a series of micro-projects in a five-year medium-term development plan. Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has saved over $3billion from arbitration’s, the Corporation’s Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, has disclosed. Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of chairmen of the State Transport Corporation, Waste Management board and a number of Special Assistants. KADUNA – The Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal has nullified the election of spokesman of the Senate, Senator Dayo Adeyeye. The Appellate Court subsequently upheld the tribunal judgment which declared Senator Biodun Olujimi and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party as winner of the Ekiti South Senatorial election held on February 23. The Academy (Oscar) has disqualified Nigeria’s “Lionheart” directed by Genevieve Nnaji from the Oscar race in the Best International Feature Film category, dropping the number of films competing for the award to 92 from what had been a record 93 entries. The film, Nigeria’s first-ever submission in the Best International Feature Film category, is largely in English, which makes it ineligible to compete.
