`Amala’ festival to hold in Lagos

The Economic and Finance Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it will extend its investigation to doctors that issue fake medical reports to those facing prosecution for alleged economic and financial crimes. Acting Chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, disclosed this at an interactive session with newsmen in Abuja on Friday. “We will extend our investigation to doctors who connive with criminals and give them fake medical report. An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered that a 52-year-old teacher, Davies Noel,who allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter, be remanded in a correctional centre, pending legal advice. Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdullamid Lawal, who did not take the plea of Noel, ordered the police to duplicate the case file to the Ekiti Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, on Saturday, pledged that the police would be professional and neutral in the conduct of the Nov. 16 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayalsa States. The IGP stated this in Lafia at an event held in his honour by the Lafia Progressive Forum. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it has publicly opened bids from 14 companies for the financing and redevelopment of Oil Mining Lease (OML) 119. The Corporation disclosed this in a statement issued by its Acting spokesman, Mr Samson Makorji, in Abuja, on Friday. OML 119 is operated by the Upstream subsidiary of the corporation, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited (NPDC). Delta government has approved the construction of a Film Village and Leisure Park in Ugbolu, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state. The Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Charles Aniagwu, told journalists that the projects were among the approvals at the State Executive Council meeting held on Friday.
