The Senate Committee on Niger Delta has rejected the 2020 budget of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs headed by a former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta asked that the budget be re-represented, citing the omission of major ongoing projects in its capital appropriation. Police have arrested the Member of the Benue Assembly Representing Katsina-Ala Constituency, Hon Jonathan Agbiye. Justice Olukayode Adeniyi of an FCT High Court in Apo, on Tuesday adjourned the trial of the former Director General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Bature Masari, until Dec. 12 . The judge adjourned the case pending the ruling of another matter in the Federal High court on Nov. 27, to determine if the defendant can be tried twice on the same charge simultaneously. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has advised pharmacists and patent medicine dealers to store medicines with due care, to sustain their shelf life and potency. Mr Venatius Ihekire, NAFDAC Assistant Director, Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, gave the advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday. Ihekire noted that the expiry period of pharmaceutical products had meaning only if the products were stored under proper conditions. The Federal High Court Abuja, on Tuesday, granted an order of interim forfeiture of 23 properties belonging to Abdulrasheed Maina, Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team. Justice Folashade Giwa-Ogunbanjo gave the order of interim forfeiture following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC). The court also gave an order directing the publication of the order of interim forfeiture in any national daily newspaper. Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has presented additional six commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for confirmation. The governor’s request was contained in a correspondence to the House and read at Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker, Mr Danladi Yakubu-Salihu. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) says it has approved the regulation of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) on telecommunications companies, line with the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). Mr Inuwa Kashifu, the Director-General of NITDA, said this on Tuesday in a statement in Abuja while reacting to a publication on ‘New NCC Directive will push telecoms to violate the NDPR’ on Oct. 18. Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja on October 21, 2019, sentenced and convicted one Ekhator Prince (a.k.a Maxwell), to six months imprisonment on a two-count charge, bordering on cybercrimes and impersonation. Ekhator Prince was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after he was busted trying to swindle an American woman, online of $500.000. Airtel Nigeria has increased the data allowance on its weekly and monthly data tariff plans in a new move that will enable mobile internet consumers to enjoy more value at heavily discounted rates.
