The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), retired Col. Hammed Ali, said operatives of the ongoing Joint Border Security had seized items worth N1.4 billion since the partial closure of borders. 57-year-old landlord, Jamiu Animashaun, was on Monday docked at a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defrauding his female tenant of N1.5 million on the pretext of selling her a vehicle. The defendant, who is facing one-count charge of fraud, pleaded innocent of the offence. The Prosecutor, Insp. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has decimated a location at Boboshe on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno, being used as meeting venue by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs). NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja. Arik Air resumes flights to Owerri
By Yunus Yusuf Arik Air says it will resume flight services to the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, from Oct. 21. The airline made the announcement in a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Capt. Roy Ilegbodu, on Monday in Lagos. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Monday said the country’s financial inclusion rate stood at 63.2 per cent in 2018. The bank said this in the 2018 Annual Report on the National Financial Inclusion Strategy Implementation posted on its website. The CBN said the figure showed a marginal increase of 4.8 per cent from 58.4 per cent in 2016 to 63.2 per cent in 2018. The bank said that the figure was achieved through its biannual financial inclusion survey conducted within the period reviewed. The Borno Government said it had planted about 11,500 trees to effectively address the problems of deforestation and erosion bedeviling the state capital. The Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Kabor Wanori, disclosed this on Sunday while launching a tree planting exercise in Bulumkutu area in Maiduguri metropolis. Workers in Osun say they will join the nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) if the Federal Government and labour failed to reach agreement on consequential adjustment on the wage increase.
