Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 146 new cases of COVID-19. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, confirmed this in a post on its Twitter page. This brings the total number of cases in Nigeria to 4787. Lagos recorded the highest cases with 57, followed by Kano State 27. The tweet read: “146 new cases of COVID19; 57-Lagos 27-Kano 10-Kwara 9-Edo 8-Bauchi 7-Yobe 4-Kebbi 4-Oyo 3-Katsina 3-Niger 2-Plateau 2-Borno 2-Sokoto 2-Benue 1-Gombe 1-Enugu 1-Ebonyi 1-Ogun 1-FCT 1-Rivers “4787 cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, 957 patients have been discharged, with 158 deaths recorded.”
One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides, Tolu Ogunlesi, has insisted his principal did not “order” the reported COVID-19 cure from Madagascar. The Lagos State Government has confirmed that a 32-year-old man died of COVID-19 complication on Tuesday. The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, in a tweet on Tuesday, said the young man recently returned from Dubai with severe underlying health conditions. He also added that the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lagos State had increased to 1,949. Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has supported the President Muhammadu Buhari government’s move to import Madagascar-made coronavirus drink, known as COVID Organic. President Buhari had on Monday directed the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 to pick Madagascar’s cure for coronavirus. President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to stop repeated attacks by bandits in Katsina State. Reports emerged on Monday night that some bandits attacked Batsari and Yantumaki Danmusa Local Government Areas of Katsina State. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday, announced that the State has recorded another case of coronavirus. Makinde, who doubles as Chairman of the COVID-19 task force in the State, made this announcement via series of tweets on his Twitter handle Monday evening. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday recorded 242 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of infections in Nigeria to 4641.
