President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan has commended the Yobe State government for ordering an investigation into the mysterious deaths recently reported in some parts of the state. Lawan had expressed concern at the reports that many people have died of yet unknown cause(s), particularly in Gashua, Nguru, and Portiskum communities. Lawan welcomed the announcement by the State government that it would launch an investigation into the cause of the deaths. Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed, on Sunday, announced total lockdown in three local government areas to curtail the community transmission of the new coronavirus disease in the state. A former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu branch in Lagos, Mr Adedotun Adetunji, on Sunday commiserated with the family of the late oldest judge in the state, retired Justice Isiaka Oluwa. Bauchi state government has described the multiple deaths being recorded in Azare Katagum Local Government Area of the state as ‘normal and seasonal deaths’. Reacting to media reports suggesting that the deaths could be COVID-19 related, Bauchi Deputy Governor, Baba Tela, dismissed this, saying the state has recorded only one COVID-19 related death. The Kaduna State Government has appealed to persons who tested positive for COVID-19 to report at its isolation centre for treatment. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni made the appeal on Sunday in Kaduna. Some groups on Saturday in Ibadan called on the Oyo State Government to provide more incentives for health workers to boost their morale in the fight against the COVID-19.
