A COVID-19 patient who attempted to escape from the isolation center in Kaduna state has been captured. This was disclosed by a Corps Assistant Joshua Philip who was posted to Infectious Disease Control Center, Down Quarters, Kaduna South to provide security services in and around the isolation centre. Unidentified gunmen attacked Hurra community of Irigwe Chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau, killed nine persons and touched 33 houses. Mr Sunday Abdu, the National President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA) told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday that the incident occurred on Tuesday night. Abdu said two other people were severely injured in the attack and were presently receiving treatment at the hospital. The Police Command in Delta has arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect, Iwebunor Onyebuolise, over the killing of a drug dealer in Ogwashi-Uku, Anioch South Local Goverment Area of the state. The Ministry of Power says it has installed solar-powered mini-grids in some isolations centres across the country to provide 24 hours power supply. Mr Aaron Artimas, Special Adviser Media and Communication to the Minister of Power, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday. The Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has equipped a 10-bedded Isolation Centre ahead of the first COVID-19 case to be admitted. A medical expert, Dr Akintunde Ogunfeyimi, has warned Nigerians against excessive intake of local gin and herbal concoctions, saying it cannot curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
