The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has formally declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, has the winner of the 2018 governorship election in Osun state.
Recall that the governorship election was held on Saturday, September 22, but was declared inconclusive by the Returning Officer, Prof Afuwape, calling for a rerun held today, Thursday, September 27, 2018.
Prof Afuwape while announcing the winner, said the APC candidate, Oyetola after the supplementary elections polled a total of 255, 505 to emerge winner.
His closest rival, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, polled a total of 255, 023.
Prompt News Online reports that supplementary elections were held in seven poling stations spread across four local governments – Orolu, Osogbo, Ife North and Ife South.
Recall that Iyiola Omisore, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, which came third during the election had declared support for the APC candidate in the supplementary elections thus, paving the way for APC’s Oyetola’s victory and emergence as Osun Governor-Elect.
