Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has offered reassurance to Nigerians facing challenging times, asserting that the Federal Government’s policies will pave the way for a brighter future. Addressing a gathering of Governors’ Wives on her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the prospects for peace, progress, and prosperity in the year 2024.
During the meeting held at the State House on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu commended the efforts of the governors’ wives in supporting vulnerable populations and urged them to remain steadfast in their endeavors. Emphasizing the transient nature of hardship, she expressed confidence that concerted efforts would yield positive outcomes for all Nigerians.
The Renewed Hope Initiative, an extension of President Tinubu’s agenda, aims to address various societal needs, with a particular focus on agricultural empowerment through the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP). Mrs. Tinubu outlined plans to empower 20 farmers each from five states in the South East Zone with financial support and agricultural resources.
Additionally, the initiative will launch the “Young Farmers Club” in public schools nationwide, encouraging agricultural participation among the youth. Schools with outstanding farms will be rewarded with prizes, including renovations, science laboratory equipment, ICT resources, and library upgrades.
The RHI’s “Every Home a Garden” competition seeks to promote gardening and will award the overall best garden owner with a prize of N20 million by December. Mrs. Tinubu urged governors’ wives to provide updates on the progress of the program as it unfolds.
Beyond agriculture, the RHI encompasses economic empowerment, health initiatives, and social investments, reflecting a holistic approach to addressing societal challenges.
