Hon. Bello El-Rufai, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has been cautioned against misleading the public by denying receipt of the recently distributed SUVs. SaharaReporters has obtained an internal memo addressing the discrepancy and cautioning the lawmaker against actions that could tarnish the parliament’s image.
El-Rufai’s denial came during an appearance on the ‘MIC ON’ podcast hosted by Channels Television presenter Seun Okinbaloye, where he claimed to have not received the SUV allocated to him. Despite acknowledging that many of his colleagues had received the vehicles, El-Rufai asserted that some members, including himself, rejected them.
However, an internal memo leaked to SaharaReporters and attributed to the Deputy Spokesperson for the House, Hon. Philip Agbese, refuted El-Rufai’s claims. The memo unequivocally stated that every member of the 10th House of Representatives had indeed received their allocated vehicles. It cautioned against misinformation and attempts to undermine the credibility of the parliament.
Titled ‘Clarification on Vehicle Allocation’, the memo emphasized the importance of maintaining public trust and refraining from actions that could bring the parliament into disrepute. It reminded members that the allocated vehicles are essential for facilitating their legislative duties and are the property of the House of Representatives.
The memo concluded by urging all members, including El-Rufai, to exercise caution in public discourse and avoid causing disaffection or raising controversial matters.
