Nigerian comedian calls for more participation of ladies in comedy industry

A Nigerian comedian and actress, Chioma Omeruah, popularly known as “Chigul”, on Monday called on ladies who were fond of exhibiting their comic talent secretly to come to limelight.

Omeruah made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

She said that the industry was a friendly one, willing and ready to accommodate talents especially the female folk, who were not well represented like the male.

According to her, she observed there were more female comedians comfortably exhibiting their talent on their social media handles, rather than embracing the industry properly.

“I can see a lot of funny ladies uploading their comic talent on Instagram and other social media platforms; this is good but I advise they come all out to join the hustle.

“I am happy that the industry is getting bigger and better by the day, so it is still a fertile industry waiting for more talents.

“I can only count very few female comedians compared to male, the funny ladies out there should exercise more confidence to come to limelight to exhibit their talents,” she said.
