The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State council, has engaged the services of external auditors, Update Consulting, for forensic auditing of its Pen Group of Schools and Guest Houses.
This is contained in a statement issued by the union’s Secretary, Mr Sola Oladapo, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Ibadan.
The statement said that the decision to engage the audit firm was reached on Monday at a meeting held with the management of the schools and the guest houses.
According to the statement, the Ibadan-based audit firm is expected to do a forensic audit of the schools and guest houses between 2017 and 2019.
It said that the firm would work with the newly-constituted committee for a period of one week, beginning from Jan. 8.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee has, as its chairman, the state secretary of the union.
Other members are an educationist, Mr Gboyega Ogunsina, the school’s PTA chairman, Alhaji Wasiu Asekun, the immediate past Assistant Secretary, Pastor Adeola Oduola and Mr Lekan Yusuf, the council’s Administrative Officer.
Also on the committee are Mrs Kemi Afolabi, the school’s Bursar, a school teacher, Mrs Jadesola Ajibola, the State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Femi Odekunle, Mr Jeremiah Oke, the union’s Treasurer, Mr Akeem Abas and Mrs Titi Adeyemi.
