Two men, Habibulahi Dogo and John Ezra, on Tuesday appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ilorin, for allegedly stealing battery.
Dogo, 25 and Ezra, 24, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zaccheus Folorunsho, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 26, in Ilorin.
Folorunsho said that Dogo was arrested by the police on a stop and search patrol along Mubo Street, Ilorin.
He said that Dogo was arrested with one Yokomax 12V100AH Motor battery, suspected to have been stolen.
Folorunsho said that during interrogation, Dogo confessed that he bought the battery from Ezra, a security guard at one Colonel’s house.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 97, 287, and 317 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, ordered the remand of the defendants in a correctional center.
Dasuki adjourned the case until Feb. 18, for further mention. (NAN)
