Amidst ongoing legal battles and heightened tensions, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has returned to Nigeria after his self-imposed exile. The embattled Yoruba Nation agitator’s return comes in solemn circumstances, as he makes the journey back to his homeland for the final burial rites of his late mother, Mrs. S.A. Adeyemo.
A statement released by Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed the activist’s return, stating, “I can confirm that Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho is currently on his way to Igboho Town for the final burial of his mother MRS S.A.ADEYEMO.” The statement also revealed that Mrs. Adeyemo’s body was retrieved from a mortuary in Saki Town, marking the beginning of the funeral proceedings.
Accompanying the announcement was a video posted by Koiki, depicting Igboho alongside individuals believed to be present at the mortuary, underscoring the somber occasion of his return.
Igboho’s presence in Nigeria marks a significant development in his tumultuous journey, having been out of the country since 2021 following his evasion of authorities and subsequent declaration as wanted by the Department of State Services (DSS).
