The United States has consoled Nigeria on the death of Abba Kyari.
The late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari was buried on Saturday in Abuja, weeks after testing positive to coronavirus.
The mission’s message was posted on its Twitter handle, @USEmbassyAbuja, on Saturday.
“On the passing of the Presidential Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria wishes to express sincerest condolences to his family and to the government of Nigeria. We mourn with Nigeria at the loss of this dedicated son and public servant”, it read.
Meanwhile, the country has confirmed the repatriation of more citizens.
The Embassy, Saturday night, tweeted the latest evacuation.
“Today, over 340 Americans left Lagos for the United States on a chartered Omni Air International flight bound for Dulles Airport, near Washington, DC. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria wishes all aboard a smooth flight as they head home to rejoin family & friends. Stay Safe & Healthy!”, the update read.
On April 9, the U.S. announced that it had helped 997 return home amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The Embassy said from April 6 to 8, three chartered flights operated by Delta Air Lines and Ethiopian Airlines airlifted 850 nationals from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
On April 4, 147 citizens departed Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
With the figure, the world power has, in 14 days, flown 1,337 Americans out of Africa’s most populous nation.
