The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says it would support Kano state government to enrol 98, 785 additional out-of-school children in 2020. The Unicef Chief Field Office, Kano, Mr Maulid Warfa disclosed this in Kano on Friday at a high level Committee meeting on the implementation of 2020 Unicef assisted programmes. He said the Fund would provide the necessary support under its programmes to ensure that the targeted number of children across the 44 local government areas were enrolled in primary schools. Kogi Government in collaboration with the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), has intensified effort in tackling the menace of erosion across the state. The state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Victor Omofaiye, made this known to newsmen in Lokoja on Friday after he led a delegation from the World Bank and NEWMAP on a two-day assessment tour to some gully sites across the state.
