The Senate on Thursday, approved 22.7 billion dollars as an external borrowing plan for Nigeria out of the 22.8 billion requested by President Muhammadu Buhari. This followed the adoption of the report of the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts on the Federal Government’s Borrowing Plan at plenary. Senate approves N346.4bn NDDC 2019 budget
The Senate on Thursday approved the sum of N346.4 billion as 2019 Budget for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This followed the consideration of the report of the 2019 budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as presented during plenary by Chairman Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi. Presenting the report, Nwaoboshi noted that President Muhammadu Buhari through a communication to the Senate had presented a budget of N409.9 billion for the NDDC for 2019. The Nigeria Army troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) have dealt a deadly blow on Boko Haram terrorists in Damboa, Borno State leading to the killing of scores of the terrorists on Wednesday. The Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Akwa Ibom, Mr Julius Amusan, said on Thursday that five corps members serving in the state died during the 2019 Batch “A” service year. The Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, on Thursday called on the authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) to ensure they properly maintain the institution’s sports facilities. The Cross River Government on Thursday announced its plans to host Africa’s biggest festival, which would be attended by 54 African countries in Calabar.
