A Grade I Area Court in Abuja on Thursday sentenced a 29-year-old labourer, Jerry Ihotu, to clean a church for 30 days foe being in possession of a stolen generator and wheelbarrow. The Judge, Alhaji Inuwa Maiwada, ordered Ihotu to clean the church in Idu Karmo for 30 days and warned him to desist from crime, serving his punishment. He said that the sentence would serve as a deterrent to others. A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday ordered that a 42-year-old man, James Anietie, who allegedly defiled his 11-year-old daughter, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Service, pending legal advice. Chief Magistrate P.E. Nwaka, who did not take the plea of Anietie ordered that the case file be returned to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice. A group, Save Climate and Democracy Naija Coalition, on Wednesday gave a seven-day ultimatum to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to lift the ban on the operations of motorcycles and tricycles in some areas of the state. An Ilorin Area Court on Thursday dissolved a nine-year-old marriage between Balikis and Muhammad Olayinka over lack of love between the couple. Balikis, a resident of Ojagboro Area, Ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage to Muhammad, for lack of love in the union.
