The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed relief materials to victims of flood disaster in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the relief materials, worth millions of naira, were shared with the victims of the Sept. 1 flooding, which affected over 250 houses. An FCT High Court in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday, sentenced a 38-year-old man, Eric Chigbor, to death by hanging for killing his wife. The police charged Chigbor with culpable homicide. Justice Charles Agbaza, who found Chigbor guilty of killing his wife, Jessica said the prosecution was able to prove with cogent evidence that the convict intentionally killed the deceased. A 150 MVA transformer and cables were, on Wednesday, gutted by fire at the Ayede sub-station of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Ibadan. Pensioners in Ondo State have hailed Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the implementation and payment of a 33 percent increment in their allowances. Elder Adedapo Salami, the acting Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in the state, gave the commendation on Wednesday in Akure during a press conference. Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has spent two days in Monguno town around the tough shores of the Lake Chad in northern Borno, during which he laid the foundation for the construction of 1,000 houses. The houses on completion will resettle internally displaced persons currently occupying schools.
