The Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), in Kebbi, says it has recorded a bumper harvest of 3.5 million metric tones of rice in the rainy season in the state. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has detained Mr Goddy Nnadi, the General Manager (Corporate Services), Petroleum Equalisation Fund. The spokesperson of the commission, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday, that Nnadi was arrested on Monday and detained by the ICPC. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, has launched OPERATION RATTLESNAKE III against terrorists’ elements in the North East of the Country. The police on Wednesday in Ogun arraigned a 31-year-old man, Saka Habeeb, who allegedly conspired with others and stole an armoured cable worth N525,000. Habeeb, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy, and burglary, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun. He, however, pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Cpl. Titi Olatoye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 26 at 2.30 a.m. at Derivative Industries Ltd. Ota. A 23-year-old security guard, Saviour Udoh, was on Wednesday remanded at a Custodial Facility by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for defiling a five-year-old girl in church premises. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Sybil Nwaka ordered Udoh’s remand, following his not guilty plea to a charge of sexual assault. The first lady of Lesotho was charged with murder and remanded on Wednesday over the fatal shooting of her husband’s previous wife in 2017. The Dangote Tomato Processing Company, Kadawa, says it has recruited no fewer than 100 skilled and casual workers ahead of its production resumption. U.S. announces additional $40m aid to Nigeria
The United States has announced an additional 40-million-dollar (N14 billion) aid to Nigeria to address the humanitarian crisis arising from decades of the Boko Haram insurgency.
