The Senate has received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of Dr. Kingsley Isitua Obiora and Professor Adeola Akande as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; and Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja in Kogi, has confirmed three cases of Lassa fever with one recorded death at the facility in the last one week. Dr Bernard Ododo, Head of Clinical Services of the medical centre, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lokoja. The West African Health Organisation, WAHO, has said that it is critical that all countries in West Africa collaborate with each other to take precautionary measures against the outbreak of Coronavirus in the region. In a statement on the Coronavirus in China, which has claimed 80 lives in that country with about 3,000 confirmed cases across the world, WAHO, says it will continue to monitor and provide regular updates on this rapidly changing situation. An FCT High Court on Monday sentenced Maryam Sanda, the woman who stabbed her husband to death, Bilyaminu, son of a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Haliru Bello, to death by hanging. Delivering judgment, Justice Yusuf Halilu, convicted her on circumstantial evidence. The killing was premeditated, the police said. A policewoman, Insp. Vivian Nduka, on Monday, narrated how a driver, Adelaja Oloyede, allegedly raped a tailor in his house at Ikorodu, near Lagos with the aid of black magic known also as “juju”. Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal has emerged as Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum. Gov.
