The Senate Joint Committee on Navy, Marine Transport and Finance on Wednesday, asked the Director-General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency ( NIMASA) Mr Dakuku Peterside, to appear before it unfailingly on Thursday. The Enugu State Independent National Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) says it will conduct local government election in the state on Feb. 29, 2020. The Chairman of ENSIEC, Dr Mike Ajogu in a statement on Wednesday in Enugu, advised all political parties in the state to take note of the statutory notice for election. The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos in a landmark judgment has ordered the Federal Government to “recover pensions collected by former governors now serving as ministers and members of the National Assembly, and directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN to challenge the legality of states’ pension laws permitting former governors and other ex-public officials to collect such pensions.” A certified true copy of the judgment delivered last week was obtained yesterday. A 42-year-old man, Obinna Adindu, was on Wednesday docked at a Federal High Court in Lagos, over a drug trafficking charge preferred against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The defendant is standing trial on a one-count charge of allegedly exporting 1.62kg of heroin. The criminal charge marked FHC/L/397C/2019, is pending before Justice Mohammed Liman. The Police in Niger had arrested one Yakubu Abubakar of Aninigi village of Paikoro Local Government Area for giving a neighbour fake bulletproof charm. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Usman Adamu, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday, that Abubakar tested the efficacy of the charm on Zakari Yakubu. The Police Command in Bayelsa on Wednesday confirmed the burning of two suspected kidnappers in the Otuagala Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the state by the mob. The suspected criminals were involved in the kidnap of three students of the College of Health and Technology, Otuogidi. The police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said the two kidnappers were arrested on Tuesday evening.
