Operatives of “Operation Crush’’ attached to Alapere Police Division in Lagos State, have arrested six suspected cultists. The arrested cultists, believed to belong to the “Eiye and Aiye’’ confraternities, were arrested for their alleged involvement in series of violent attacks in the area. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, warned the Kaduna State Governor and Chairman of the Kogi State National Campaign Council, Nasir El-Rufai to steer clear of the state. PDP said the people abhor incitements and threats in the November 16 governorship election in the state. The Kogi State House of Assembly, on Monday, confirmed Chief David Onoja, as the Deputy Governor of the state. This followed the impeachment of Elder Simon Achuba last week by the House. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate an alleged diversion of N17.5 billion by the Bayelsa State Government. Mr. Yekini Nabena, the APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, made the call in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja. Nabena also urged the EFCC and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) to investigate all the bank accounts belonging to the state government. A train carrying hundreds of football fans over the weekend caught fire at the Bellevue train station in Berlin, Germany. The incident was said to have taken place on Saturday night (Oct.19). An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Musa Rabo, who was kidnapped by gunmen at the weekend, has been rescued. It was gathered that Rabo was rescued by a combined armed security forces. The Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, has berated former Governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, over his inability to pay pensioners during his tenure. Ohiri described as shameful and disappointing the inability of Okorocha to pay pensioners in spite of the huge resources at his disposal. Organisation of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (OESID), has criticised the decision of Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi to establish grazing reserve settlements for herdsmen in the state.
