Petrol tanker explodes in Onitsha [PHOTOS]
A truck loaded with petroleum product has exploded at Upper Iweka, Onitsha in Anambra State. Source said the truck lost control and rammed into the wall of the popular Toronto Hospital at Upper-Iweka before exploding. The state police command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, saying that the state police commissioner, John Abang, has just arrived the scene for on-the-zpot assessment. Speficially, the All Share Index dipped 41.45 points or 0.16 per cent to close at 26,472.20 against 26,513.65 achieved on Tuesday. Guaranty Trust Bank plc has released its unaudited financial results for the period ended September 30, 2019 to the Nigerian and London Stock Exchanges. A review of the results shows positive performance across all financial indices, reaffirming the Bank’s position as one of the most profitable and well managed financial institutions in Nigeria. Profit before tax stood at ₦170.7billion, representing a growth of 3.9% over ₦164.2billion recorded in the corresponding period of September 2018. Gov. Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, said on Wednesday that civil servants in the state deserve to be paid the new national minimum wage. “Katsina civil servants actually need the new minimum wage as they have been putting in their best to move the state forward,” Masari said at the opening of the 5th quadrennial delegates conference of the state medical and health workers union, in Katsina. Bauchi State governor, Bala Mohammed , has effected a minor reshuffle of his cabinet. IBADAN – Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has said that politicians are already advising him not to take hard decisions because of second term. Mr Makinde assumed office on May 29, 2019 and his four-year term runs out in 2023. The Head of Public Affairs of NAHCON, Mrs Fatima Usara, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja. FG deports 7 Koreans from Nigeria
The Federal Government says it has deported seven nationals of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) back to their country. Mr Sunday James, Public Relations’ Officer (PRO), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. “The Comptroller General, NIS Mr Muhammad Babandede, has carried out the deportation of seven DPRK nationals from Nigeria for life,” he said.
