The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said that the candidates for Bayelsa and Kogi gubernatorial elections were not validly nominated by their political parties. Mr Festus Okoye, Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC said this on Thursday during a “Youth Campus” sensitisation programme organised by the Commission at the Niger-Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa. Nine corps members in Nasarawa State are to repeat their service for absconding from their places of primary assignment, Mrs Ramatu Sanda, NYSC Coordinator in the state, has said. The coordinator made this known in Lafia on Thursday, while briefing newsmen after the Passing Out Parade for the 2018 Batch “C” Stream I corps members. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it has renewed partnership with Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) to add credibility to the mobilisation process and prevent participation of fake graduates from national service. The FCT Fire Service, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC), is introducing fire safety clubs in public and private secondary schools in the territory. The Assistant Controller-General of the service, Mr Julius Opetunsin, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday. Opetunsin said the initiative was part of the agency’s fire safety sensitisation campaign for school children, to be launched on Oct. 8. The Senate on Thursday, approved the 2020 to 2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy Paper(FSP). The approval, followed the adoption of a 16-point recommendations by the National Assembly Joint Committee Finance and National Planning which considered the MTEF and FSP documents. Part of the recommendations approved by senate was to increase the Federal Government’s total expenditure estimates in the MTEF/FSP from N10.002 trillion to N10,729.4 trillion.
